Angela Pando
Reinforced bulk carrier for the transport of ore owned by Marítima Antares, which on July 14, 1986, in the course of a voyage with a cargo of 12,000 tons of powdered iron ore, half an hour after leaving the Port of La Luz, lost the steering wheel. It headed directly towards the coast of La Isleta, where it ran aground on a rock about 900 meters north of the current Esfinge dock. It is home to scarce flora and fauna, as it is on shallow seabeds beaten by the waves, although in the free waters around the Isleta it is common to find dolphins, whales and other cetaceans. Medium/high diving difficulty according to currents. It still contains the cargo of iron ore sand in its holds, and visibility is easily lost by suspension at any slight agitation. There is a nice model of this ship at the entrance of the Instituto Social de la Marina in Santander (where he was registered).
