PLASENCIA

buceaenlahistoria.org

Freighter owned by Naviera Medina dedicated to cabotage between the islands and the Spanish Sahara. Coming from Villa Cisneros with a shipment of dried fish, on April 11, 1962 it ran aground on the coast located between the payments of Vecindario and Castillo de Romeral. An attempt was made to tow it to Puerto de la Luz without success, since it sank due to a leak in the engine room near Arinaga beach. At a depth of 34 meters, on sandy and calm bottoms, with clear and clean waters, grunts, barracudas, horse mackerels and amberjacks usually frequent the place. The strong currents and sea conditions, however, make it difficult for diving.
